KUALA LUMPUR -- The issue of Singaporean fighter jets causing noise when flying over Gelang Patah in Johor is a thing of the past, Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Dr Fadzil Che Wan has said.
He was responding to an oral question from National Front MP for Gelang Patah, Mr Chang See Ten, in parliament on Friday.
The New Straits Times quoted him as saying that the republic's air force had agreed to abide by agreed procedures.
There have been periodic complaints by Malaysians about alleged intrusion by Singapore military planes.
The most recent complaint was made in July when Umno Youth chief Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi alleged in parliament that Singapore planes had trespassed Johor air space 150 times.
Datuk Zahid, Umno MP for Bagan Datoh, alleged that Gelang Patah was particularly affected by the problem.
In response, Transport Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Chor Chee Heung admitted receiving reports that Singaporean aircraft often crossed Malaysian air space.
He also said the transport and defence ministries would investigate and monitor reports of Singaporean aircraft flying below the permitted height over Johor.
