France Presse August 4, 2000 THE amount of time women spend online is increasing in Singapore, which prides itself as an e-commerce hub, but Internet surfing by men is on a sharp decline, according to June research released here today. ACNielsen eRatings.com said that while the composition of female Internet users declined from 42.43 percent in May to 38.95 percent in June, their average time online rose 50 minutes to 5 hours and 20 minutes. "Marketers looking to target female consumers can interpret this increase in time spent online as an attempt to find sites and content of interest," said Hoe Chin Fee, managing director of the Internet audience ratings firm. Conversely, while the ratio of male Internet users climbed to 61.05 percent from 57.57 percent, the average time spent fell nearly an hour and a half in June from the previous month to six hours and two minutes. The data involved 2000 Singapore online users surfing the web from home. ACNielsen eRatings.com is a joint venture between ACNielsen Corp. and Nielsen Media Research and NetRatings Inc. |
