THE Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) website’s domain name was recently "stolen", apparently by someone living in Poland. Attempts to recover the name have been unsuccessful according to the party's press release, Jan 17.

"Obviously, the new owner has a political agenda because he or she has used it to deface our website (the words “Mature Sex” have been pasted in place of the website)," the SDP said.

"The question is why would a Pole want to take over a domain name from an opposition party in Singapore? This does not make very much sense unless that person is not really from Poland but someone closer to home. While we do not know the identity of this person, his or her motive is rather obvious.

"The SDP takes this as a compliment to the efficacy of the website and its content. It seems as if the motto of some people is that if you can’t beat your opponent in debate, deface their website.

The party apologised to its readers for the inconvenience caused and said it was working to restore the website soon to continue to provide Singaporeans with alternative news and analysis on the political situation.
