France Presse October 16, 2004 SINGAPORE AN Indonesian maid was jailed for nine months for stealing from her employer and faking a robbery, a report said Saturday, Oct 16. The maid's employer had found 22-year-old Tutik last week in the storeroom in her underwear, gagged and with hands tied, the Straits Times said. Tutik told her employer two strangers had broken into the house and one of them had raped her. But under questioning by police, the maid admitted she ransacked her employer's bedroom and stole more than S$10,000 in cash and jewelry, a court heard. She then stripped to her underwear, gagged herself and tied her hands before locking herself in the storeroom to make it appear it was a robbery. The money and jewels were found hidden in a shoe, under the washing machine and beneath a sofa. |
